Debbie Harry sang "Die young, stay pretty! " I'm so glad she ignored the first half of that. It is interesting that many of the most radical yet influential bands of that 1978-early 80's revolution were fronted by women--Blondie, the Pretenders, the B-52s, Romeo Void; or were overtly gender-bending--Erasure, Bronski Beat, Soft Cell, Yazoo, many more. A lot of the college kids dancing to this stuff had no idea!
Blondie's "Heart of Glass" is in my running playlist. It's such a classic.
