On Longing and Longevity
I never once thought of Mathis as having an alternate sexuality before, considering his long-standing image as a romantic crooner. Certainly knowing this now may give some subtextual heft to his lyrical interpretations of songs in the future.
I'd never heard Wild is the Wind before, and now it's all I want to listen to. Soooo good. Thank you for sharing.
I listened to the song by all four artists, all interpretations were fabulous.
Such a phenomenal artist. Speaking from my corner of the world, he created two of the most iconic disco tracks of the late ’70s.
His dance rendition of “Begin the Beguine” is pure gold, and “Gone Gone Gone” easily ranks among the top 10 disco songs of 1979.
A fabulous song. My favourite version is this by Billy Mackenzie who is probably my favourite vocalist.

I'm dumbfounded...in my 58 years, I've never once heard this about Mathis.
